The Mas d'Azil cave:
50 minutes from the Ariège évasioncampsite, cross the Lèze valley and join a winding road that makes you cross the cave by car. It may be unique in Europe!
The cave has always housed men. Many vestiges of habitats have been inventoried there. Azilian has become the name of a prehistoric period.
14,000 years ago the reindeer began to give way to the deer. A stones and cut bones industry is organized in the cave.
1.5 km from the cave deepen your culture by joining the prehistoric museum where you will discover exceptional works as well as the most notable the reproduction of the ornate propellant called "Faon aux Oiseaux", considered as one of the masterpieces of Paleolithic art.
