The Mas d’Azil cave:
50 minutes from the Ariège évasion campsite, cross the Lèze valley and join a winding road which takes you through the cave by car. It may be unique in Europe!
The cave has always sheltered men. Numerous remains of habitats have been inventoried there. Azilien has become the name of a period of prehistory.
14,000 years ago the reindeer began to give way to the deer. An industry of carved stones and bones is organized in the cave.
1.5 km from the cave, deepen your culture by joining the prehistory museum where you will discover exceptional works as well as the most notable reproduction of the decorated thruster called "fawn with birds", considered one of the masterpieces of Paleolithic art.
